What My Meditation Corner Wants Me to Know

in meditation •  7 years ago  (edited)

I set up a new meditation corner which is way more private than the old one. It's so private that I sometimes resist going in it. This morning I went and sat in it.

As I sat and tuned in, I got some guidelines about how I am to conduct myself in that space.

  1. Light a candle.

  2. No electronics allowed. I did sneak my phone in after the session to take a photo. But I can't answer texts or browse Steemit while sitting in the meditation corner.

  3. No work or studying while in the meditation corner. I've taken a notebook or book into my meditation space in the past to work out things. Apparently it's ok to journal after an initial period of stillness but nothing more.

So those are the new rules for my new meditation corner.

Does your meditation corner require you to adhere to a standard of conduct? Just curious.

I also want to start meditating. And this post might motivate me to start again, so thanks. But I don't have a dedicated space in my home for it.

I find that's it's a process that requires a little persistence until it becomes a habit. I'm nowhere near as consistent as I'd like to be, but every attempt adds to the practice.
