There are many different ways that you can work gratitude into your daily routine. Elena and Heather are both adamant that you need to put in very little time and effort in order to experience the benefits of this practise.

At the end of each day, Heather and her husband have a difficult time identifying the things in their lives for which they should be grateful. "Every time we talk to one another, we make sure to mention something that we are thankful for in each of the following categories: in general, for each other, for our dog, and for our health.

It's possible that everyone's "categories" will be different, but according to Heather, this is a fantastic way to zero in on specific things and feel gratitude for them.

Here are some examples of how gratitude can be practised:

At some point during the course of the day, make it a point to set aside one minute specifically for the purpose of pausing, reflecting, and simply being present.

Express your gratitude at meals. Think about everything that has been done to bring the meal that is currently in front of you.

Before you go to sleep, jot down three things for which you are thankful.

Make it a family activity by going around the table so that each person mentions something they are grateful for, such as during dinner. You could also make it a family game.

At least one person should hear you expressing your gratitude each and every day. It could be your significant other, the cashier at the grocery store, or anyone else who has contributed to making today a better day for you in some way.

Keep in mind that the things for which you feel gratitude do not necessarily have to be monumental. You have every reason to be grateful for a cup of coffee, a steaming shower, or the aroma of freshly baked cinnamon rolls.

Elena explains that one can find reasons to be grateful for anything and everything. "Always remember to express gratitude for the things in life that make you happy. You shouldn't be embarrassed by the things that you have to be thankful for or the activities that you take pleasure in doing because they make you feel good.

Heather continues by saying that no matter how you choose to express gratitude, you should do so in a genuine manner. Anyway, she encourages them to "just do it." It makes no difference whether you do it by using an app, writing it down in a journal, or saying it out loud. Practice having patience with yourself.
