Local streets of Mumbai City

Today let me give you some glimpses of Mumbai City. The area that I have captured here is called the Fountain here and a few other pictures of the City. Mumbai city what you see as one city now was at one point of time 7 islands which were brought together by reclamations and fills during the British time. The city limits have kept expanding since then and now we also have a small town which is an extension of Mumbai City and is known as Navi Mumbai, which means new Mumbai city. Mumbai's original name was Bombay.

This Fountain area is one of the oldest area of the city and here you will find buildings which were all built during the British times. Majorly these buildings are made of Stones, they are huge, spacious with high ceilings and look class apart. In these days all of them fall under the heritage structure category.
But this whole area has also witnessed lot of change. There are many road side shops in this area. Recently due to the Metro work going on the whole area has been duged up and it's all very messy. It is difficult to walk and some parts are completely shut down.

This is one of the Government buildings in this area.

This is one of the iconic structure of the city which is a station for suburban and intercity trains called the Victoria Terminus station, V.T. Station as it is widely known.

As you will see how the whole of this area has been closed down for the metro work.

Some of these old buildings which are in a pretty bad shape have also been vacated and closed down for time being.

You will see how this whole area and not just the buildings is made of stone and it is so rock solid

There are many by-lanes which are residential areas also

Gradually the whole area is being worked upon and restoration, beautification is taking place.

You will see these street shops all across the inside road.

In Mumbai street food is very famous and everyone enjoys it. There is place for everyone in the city. The food is very reasonable here and very light on the pocket. Not only low wage people but even college students and office goers come here for food as it is economical and it is very tasty.

I am so much in love with my city

This is a famous shopping area called as Fashion street. When I was in my college I used to come here for shopping. In those days there were no shopping malls and I also got very limited pocket money. In college I would like to wear different clothes daily so these cheap options best suited me. Not only that we would also get some trendy stuff here what was in fashion in those times.

This is the national library

There was a G20 summit in the month of Jan and the boards are still there across the city. They are going to be there for the rest of the year.

This is the new Sea Link road. One of the rare empty roads to drive in the city. It has a toll charge which is on a higher side so not many people use this road, hence it is comparatively empty then the inside road.

A glimpse of the city. These days there are so many sky scrappers coming up. All the old buildings are going into redevelopment and new sky scrappers are coming up in their place.
