What's the "wimp / Rambo" in Hashing?

While we don't do it every time, sometimes the Hares get creative to make a trail run a bit more interesting and also something that can be done by anyone. Some of our trails involved some tricky terrain and we do have a few members that are mobility limited. A few of our members walk with canes of some sort and we don't want to exclude people, but we also don't want to hurt anyone. So to keep things interesting the Hares will sometimes create two trails and of course use this opportunity to insult someone.

When you have the good fortune to encounter one of these signs it means that there are two paths back to camp. I think it should be evident which of these is the more difficult.

Rambo trails tend to be our most difficult terrain, and for the wrong person such as someone with a cane, it would be a bad idea for them to attempt it. For the most part we don't include dangerous trails in our mix but sometimes we like to make something challenging for our more "spry" members.

look at those world-class athletes

Of course, if you are feeling lazy you can always take the wimp route no matter what sort of physical condition you are in and there are some benefits for taking this approach: You are going to get to drink beer before the Rambos do since almost always, the wimp trail is significantly shorter than the Rambo is.

There was another added bonus for those that got back to camp first this past week in that we had a buffet...which is not something that we normally do. Most of the time we will just have some bananas and potato chips for people to much on and even then we have a very limited quantity. So it is important to not be a glutton else you will get called out for being greedy and making it so that others couldn't have anything.

We are mostly here for the beer anyway and in the years that I have been participating with the Chiang Mai Hash, we have NEVER run out of that. If there is one thing that we put a great deal of time into assuring that we have more than enough of, it is the suds. It would be a great tragedy if we were to run out of beer one day and the "beer monster" (The person in charge of brining the beer) would never hear the end of it if this were ever to occur.

Whether you are a Rambo or a Wimp, you are entitled to the same amount of beer as everyone else in the Hash events: That is, as much of it as you want.

On on!
