RUNCOIN Distribution Round Eight: Post Your Proof of Run (Strava, Garmin Race) and Get $1 Worth Of Tokens 🏃🏻

in running •  7 years ago

This is the eighth distribution round of RUNCOIN, my experimental coin for runners. The first seven had nine beneficiaries, with a combined value of 875 RUNCOIN.

For each running activity you get $1 worth of RUNCOIN (between 23 and 40 tokens at the current price). I will also need your OpenLedger account so I'll know where to send it.

Here are the detailed rules:

  • $1 worth of RUNCOIN per activity (running activity, that is)
  • proof of run must be submitted, in the comments: screenshot + link + proof of identity
  • proofs of run must be newer than the date of this post
  • OpenLedger account so I know where to transfer the tokens
  • all transactions will be published here, on Steemit
  • time window for this distribution is September 10th - September 20th (everything posted after that will not be eligible for rewards)

This round will expire on September 20th, please refer to the distribution roadmap below.

The total amount of RUNCOIN issued so far is:

  • 88 on June 30th
  • 888 on July 3rd
  • 8888 on August 2nd

875 have been already distributed, total circulating supply 9864 RUNCOIN

RUNCOIN has a limited supply of 8,888,888 tokens (out of which 88,000 are reserved for network maintenance).

The Distribution Roadmap

  • 1st Round: July 1st - July 10th - closed
  • 2nd Round: July 10th - July 20th - closed
  • 3rd Round: July 20th - July 30th - closed
  • 4th Round: July 30th - August 10th - closed
  • 5th Round: August 10th - August 20th - closed
  • 6th Round: August 20th - August 30th - closed
  • 7th Round: August 30th - September 10th - closed
  • 8th Round: September 10th - September 20th - current
  • 9th Round: September 20th - September 30th
  • 10th Round: September 30th - October 10th

You may want to save these dates. In each distribution window, I will distribute $1 worth of RUNCOIN to every runner who will follow the conditions above. The rule is that there is only one slot per distribution window, but you can participate in as many distribution windows as you want. So you can't get more RUNCOIN if you post many races during a distribution window, only one slot, but you can participate in all the distribution windows (getting $1 worth of RUNCOIN in each of them).

I'm curious how this will play out, how many people will find RUNCOIN useful and, why not, how the price will evolve.

Let's run and play :)

Wow I'm really blown away by how cool this concept is. I love running and thinking about getting back into it. I'm not really sure what proof of identity is, maybe you can fill me in. Salutari din Cluj :)

A picture with you with something that proves you're not somebody else :) Salutari!

I see most people posting the link to their steemit post concerning the run, strava/garmin and their Openledger account name. Is this enough ?

Yes, but they also posted before some stuff that helped me identify them (in order to see that the run linked was actually ran by them, and not by somebody else). You don't need to do this every time, just at the beginning. If the coin takes off, there will be an app connecting Strava/Garmin accounts to the blockchain account, but until then, we're going old school :)

Sorry but is still isn't clear how I prove that :). If I take a screenshot of the steemit account opened at the same time as my strava account is that proof enough?

Hey @dragosroua, a weird thing is happening with my running........

due to time pressures in the evenings, I started running in the morning before breakfast. I HATE doing anything before breakfast. I assumed I would crash and burn with no food in my stomach.

But the opposite is true. I don't feel hungry or weak running before breakfast.
My PoR for this round is a 20km run at (for me) a moderate pace with no problems.

I had my usual breakfast when I got home and carried on with my day. I think I may be a convert to the running early crowd. Who would have ever thought? :-)

Anyway, here is my PoR for this round - https://www.strava.com/activities/1184127562

I hope all is well with you. :-)

Great run, Trevor! I usually run fasted in the morning and it's going great for me. I think it has something to do with burning fat instead of sugar. Glad it worked out for you as well.

Other than that, I'm preparing for a 48 hours race next week.

wow! 48 hours is looooong! That's like me running.... 50kms ;-)

I did another run this morning, fasted. My usual circuit but this time it was 30kms. It was strange that i could keep running at a good pace (for me) with no food.

The thing that slowed me down the most was - the wind that started blowing really hard, and my ankle. It was really hurting after about 23kms. but by then there was no turning back.

I did my fastest training time today (for 30kms) and that's really interesting. Maybe loading up of race fuels during a race is not as necessary as I first thought.

More experiments to come :-)

Good luck for your race next week. I hope it goes well for you. :-)

Thanks for the wishes, we'll see how this turns out.

As for running that long fasted, I think you should take hydration with you: water and / or isotonic. Food is not necessary, but liquid is. I usually start to hydrate around km 10 in long runs and I keep myself "wet" every 20-30 minutes.

I do take hydration with me, always. I have hydration points around my 10km circuit - usually where I have to stop and wait for traffic, and I always take on water then, and any other time i feel I need to.

I don't tend to drink a lot, just a couple of sips at a time, so that by the time I get home I am exactly dehydrated enough for a nice cold beer :-)

Here is my entry for this round: #runeveryday: Official Entry For Runcoin DIstribution Round No. 8
