RUNCOIN Distribution Round Four - Beneficiaries

Slowly, but steadily, RUNCOIN is getting some traction. It's the fourth distribution round and people are starting to get interested in this experiment. A few of the beneficiaries are long time participants already, while others are at their first round, but I know they are consistent runners, so targeting seems to be working.

Without further ado, here are the beneficiaries of the 4th distribution round of RUNCOIN:

What can you buy with RUNCOIN? For starters, my book on running. But if you have any other ideas about what running stuff you can buy or sell, by all means, leave me a comment and we'll see what I can do :).

RUNCOIN is my crypto experiment in the runners world, a coin designed to reward runners (and not only). Here's more detail about it, along with the distribution roadmap. You can also trade RUNCOIN on OpenLedger.

Stay tuned for the fifth distribution round announcement, it will come in the next few hours.

The coin logo is looking good! :)
Great to see more and more people are joining this runcoin project
Hopefully it can grow and we can get everyone running! :)

Thanks, Dragos.

I love seeing experiments like this on the blockchain. Congrats so far and thanks for the coin! I'm encouraged to keep running to get some more. :)

Thanks for participating and keep running! The project is also slowly evolving on the technical side. Since there is a constant interest, I started to brainstorm a few technical approaches to the asset distribution. Stay tuned :)

@lukestokes is right, this sounds like a great application of the MIST framework.

And, as it happens, I've run for crypto before - MemoryCoin once sponsored me in a race. :)

Thanks for the plug. I've read the article but I don't think this is a direction that I want to follow. I used custom_json calls before, in an attempt to formalize and "blockchainize" a task management app, but I stopped because it is quite limited. In a way, it's what OP_RETURN is for the bitcoin-based blockchains: interesting enough to study it, but too limited for a real-life case.

I'm not saying you cannot build some things using this approach, but the app logic will be overwhelming at some point. You need more processes at the blockchain level, not more space at the storage level.

If you could combine custom_json with a minimal virtual machine, well, it would certainly make more sense. But that will require any of the following:

  • persuade Steemit INC to include one and make the necessary adjustments so the steem blockchain can run smart contracts (tedious, time consuming, expensive)
  • fork your own Steem blockchain, or just the graphene core and build on top of it (tedious, time consuming, expensive).

For this project, specifically, I'm only looking at a way to distribute the assets which are already created, no more tokens will be minted. But in other projects, like hubcoin I'm building the blockchain form scratch (in this specific case, on a tendermint backend).

I don't want you to be discouraged by this comment, I don't think your solution is useless, on the contrary, but I think its use cases are limited. I really look forward to see what you come up with :)

Cool, glad to hear your thoughts.

Maybe eventually you might want to play with some ideas @biphil has played with here. I could see custom_jsoncalls being used to keep track of coin balances on something like this.

Thanks for the link, I just read the article. It's interesting and I will answer directly to @biophil.

Yeah, he did a follow up post on it as well where you can see my comments. I think there are ways it could be done as to not clutter up blogs with useless stuff as well.
