Visiting the Pink Lake with a lot of disappointment

Last to last weekend we decided to do a day outing somewhere far away from the city. After doing some research for a place to visit we finally shortlisted on Pink Lake, we came across this on places to visit in Oman and it was very fascinating looking at the pictures. The only thing was it was very far from the city, a 4 and a half hour drive one way, so if we have to return back in a day means 9 hours of driving.

Anyways it has been almost 10 months to any excursion, so our group decided to go ahead with this one. We started our journey at 8:00 A.M. Had packed up our food, and juice and water bottles for on the way, since we knew at the site there was nothing available. Totally we were 12 of us, so we all got into 3 cars. After a couple of short breaks on the way, we finally reach our destination at 2:00 P.M. It was a warm day but a very breezy one so the heat did not get on us.

The best part of this whole journey was the drive all along the coastal road. As we started getting into the interiors the color of the water was changing and it was clear turquoise at some point. So very beautiful it was that we had a thought that let's cancel the Pink lake and spend time at those beaches itself which were in the passing.

When we arrived at the Pink lake we had a total disappointment. First of all there was no Pink at all, the water was just normal color. The Sand was a little red in color so that was giving a little reflection to the water, but that's not what our understanding was of this place. The pictures we had seen online were very different then the actual lake. And the other part was, all over there were lot of dead fishes which must have come out of the lake and died, and because of that there was a dirty smell in the place.

We spent some time at the lake, clicked a few pictures and then left again to spend time at the beach which we had seen along the way. At the beach then we had lot of fun and that made some sense to the trip. Nevertheless the drive was beautiful so we did not complaint about this, but yes it surely was a disappointment.

The first 2 hours road was cutting through the Mountains

Some wonderful views in the passing. In my initial days in this city I used to always feel these barren mountains has no beauty and they were so dry, but over the years, they have grown on me and now when I look at them I feel their rawness and strength.

I was so geared up for this outing that my Track pant also had Pink on it........hahahaha

This is what the picture of the Pink Lake looks like on google. Now you can see why we we so much disappointed :-( We ofcourse knew it would not be as great as this one, but still if you see the contrast then it is like no where near to it also.

There was nothing much around, and not even any beauty to also gaze at so after clicking some pictures we decided to leave from there and go to the beach.
