Simplifying life is the process of reducing all the unnecessary details in your life and concentrating on the essentials. It can be done by reducing the number of commitments you have to take on each day, by focusing more on the big picture and less on the small print, and by finding creative ways to make money without overextending yourself. Simplifying life is about making choices that are in alignment with your values, goals, talents, and passions. You might ask, "What do I have to do?" The answer will give you a plan of action.
First, decide what you want to achieve in your life. What do you want out of it? Is there anything you've learned over the years that you would like to re-teach to yourself as part of your new lifestyle? This first step will get you on your way toward realizing your goals.
Second, choose one of the ten steps that will be helpful to you and follow it as best as you can. Do not try to do everything. You may want to take a few extra steps to increase your chances of success. Ten steps, taken one at a time, are easier to stay on track with than ten steps combined. Even if you can't immediately begin implementing one step right away, you'll eventually master the whole ten steps and your life will be more successful.
Third, evaluate your situation. Are you doing what you should be doing? Are you doing what you've always wanted to do but have never had the courage to actually do it? Evaluating your situation will help you determine the next step you should take.
Fourth, write down what you need to do, who you need to do it to, and when you need to do it. Plan your steps in writing so you'll know exactly what you have to do and when. If you find yourself procrastinating, take out the list and give yourself the chance to revise it. Revising your plan or actions is an essential part of staying on track.
Fifth, set up your goals. Write down your long term, short term, and medium-term goals. Create a chart so you will have a visual reminder of what you want to accomplish in life. When you know exactly what you want to do, you will be more likely to take the action needed to get there. It takes discipline to make goals and stick to them.
Sixth, be committed. You cannot change the world but you can have a better, more successful life. Think about how the people you love are enjoying their lives. Where would they be if they knew your goals for them?
Lastly, don't give up. Simplifying life doesn't happen overnight. It's a process that takes time and patience. Don't lose hope. The sky is the limit. Keep at it.
I know this seems simple, and it is. But the process of making big life changes happens much quicker when you have a plan in place. Your plan should be written down and be reviewed often. Write down your goals and the steps you need to take. Review and revise those steps as necessary throughout the day. And finally, don't forget to live your plan out in the real world by doing things you've previously thought were impossible.
It doesn't have to be hard. It can be surprisingly easy if you just remember to take those steps. Simplifying your life doesn't have to be a mystery. You know what you need to do, so just do it.
If you've been struggling with a challenging problem, don't let it overwhelm you. It's easier to solve a small problem than a large one. You can take small steps. You have enough to worry about without having to worry about being overwhelmed. Take baby steps.
Simplifying your life really can be that simple if you just take it one step at a time. Live for the moment, focus on the task at hand, and make decisions that are motivated by results. You'll simplify your life and improve your results. You deserve it.
