Has something similar ever happened to you:
You have completed your daily schedule.
You are fully aware of your obligations.
A block of time has been set aside for you to finish a crucial task.
You tell yourself that you will FINALLY be able to work on this task that you HAVE to do for a while (and finish it for good) when the block time comes.
Then, with a cup of coffee in hand, you settle in front of your computer and are prepared to get started.
However, there is one major issue: You can't Pay Attention!
You're not smart enough to complete this task.
You're exhausted.
You lack the necessary energy.
In essence, you are obstructed from completing the task.
And despite your best efforts, you simply cannot!
There is absolutely nothing to do because your mental location is absent.
You then begin to spin...
a brief tour arrived in your mailbox.
a brief visit to social media.
Make a brief phone call to your coworker.
You at least get the impression that you're working and getting things done.
Always preferable to inaction, consider your options.
But in reality, you are running away from the task that you should be working on right now and are well aware that it is simply procrastination in disguise.
Another issue is that time is running out despite all of this time spent in circles.
It's been at least 30 to 45 minutes, and either the end of the day or the next meeting is drawing near.
Therefore, there isn't enough time left to begin the task and complete it as you intended when you first started.
You give up and tell yourself it will be alright later as a result.
A stunning chunk of work has just been destroyed in your day once more.
The most frustrating aspect is that it appears that history keeps repeating itself.
Does that kind of circumstance have any significance to you? Have you ever gone through it? If so, you've arrived at the ideal location!
To help you feel less guilty, I'd also like to let you know that we all experience this phenomenon occasionally.
We refer to it as mental exhaustion or a lack of energy.
There may be days when our mental state is off.
Our schedule is well-structured. Our schedule might be ideal. However, that is not the issue!
The issue is that we are unable to complete the task we had planned because we are mentally exhausted.
Unfortunately, this causes us to "procrastinate" the task that we ought to have completed at that time.
When you are presented with a task that you KNOW you should be doing but are not presently ABLE to complete, it is a terrible feeling.
This is, in my opinion, one of the biggest sources of frustration with regard to time management.
So, as the title of this article suggests, the question that we all ask is, "What to do when we lack the energy to complete a task?"
