Running Rest: Relieving Massage + bike

in running •  7 years ago

After the interval training yesterday and, since I have a race on Sunday, I really deserved a rest from Running today.

Nevertheless, I took my Brompton Bike to go work this morning and go to the Running Track for getting Relieving Massage.

Thought my legs were fine but my physiotherapist found many stressed muscles and, believe me, It has been a painful "massage"...

But now I am very relaxed...

Tomorrow will be another Resting day... so, no running...

Actually, after getting a Intense Relieving Massage it is recommended to not run within the next 36 hours, so you give some time to your muscles in order to recover from the massage...

Enjoy your day!!!

Keep on running!!!

The day has only 23 hours and not 24, do you know why? Because one hour is booked always for running.

Massage is not the best choice before the race but I guess you had no choice. Have a good rrcovery ;)

As I see it it was a physiotherapy and not a massage. They are worlds apart.

Sure? according to me and many athletes a massage 4 days before the race is...glory :-) and totally necessary...Of course, performed by a Sport Physiotherapist... and prescribed by my coach :-)

If you receive massages regularly it is ok to have one several days before race, but if you not typically receive massages your massage should be about a week before race
To @ervin-lemark: Yup, sorry I missed that massage was in inverted commas :)

What are you going to do with that extra time? I guess they have to tie you to a wheelchair if they want to keep you from running 😂😂😂

hahahahhah!!!!
You demonstrate as well some addiction when you go for running at -5 degrees while snowing and blowing like antarctic sea tempest, aren't you?
No, seriously, I need a rest... specially when you have a competition in a few days ...
Cheers!!!1

True lol! But I'm afraid if I stop I will loose my rhythm and won't pick it up as easlily again. Best cure ... keep going.

Actually, resting for 2 or 3 days can really lead to a breakthrough, especially if you are training really hard like toofasteddie is. Light jogging needs no rest, but in every other type of running where you pace and push yourself for better times it can be just that thing that pushes you to the next level.
It is sometimes hard to tell when you are over stressed and need to take a break.

That's true. I tend to run 3 times a week, but when I have a 'longer' break, my next run is usually much better

Must be hard for you to stay 2 days without any run!

Indeed... No, it is easy... you need it from time to time...
If you don't rest you can get fired yourself :-)...
Anyway, If I am not running I used to do any other activity, biking, swimming, walking, contemplating etc...
