A group of 8th graders in Arkansas found an eight-month-old Indian Runner duck with only one foot. Not willing to let natural selection take its course, the students decided to intervene in an attempt to interfere with nature's plan. The students believe that the duck, named Peg, suffered the injury shortly after it hatched at the mouth of a foot-eating turtle.
Because the class had been looking for creative ways to use its 3D printer, generating a prosthetic leg for Peg seemed like a completely normal and reasonable choice.

When asked to comment on the procedure, Alicia Bell, who directs the high school’s environmental and spatial technology lab said, “Animals bring everyone together and this was just a great way to show how work in the classroom can impact real life.”
The most beautiful part of the entire story is the fact that adorable Peg will now be able to walk herself to chopping block in order to be slaughtered and eaten by the children.

See how this animal brought this family together?
Prosthetic leg or not, Peg looks absolutely delicious!
