Postures affect hormone levels, making you psychologically stronger and bolder.
Recent Harvard student research yielded these results.
This study shows that stiff or crossed arms make us look weaker. One of the first scientific studies on this topic.
Postures affect our physiology and the picture we project to ourselves and others.
This survey was published in Psychological Science. The scientists examined 42 participants who held certain positions for two minutes to get their conclusions.
Half of the volunteers sat for 60 seconds in a chair with their torso stretched, feet on the desk, and hands on their necks.
They then had to spend a minute with their hands on a table and their bodies inclined forward.
Other group had to cross their arms for one minute and their legs for the next, exerting pressure on the floor.
To evaluate hormone levels, the scientists recorded the 42 guinea pigs' saliva.
They found that testosterone had increased 19% and cortisol had decreased significantly in the first group.
In contrast, the second group experienced the opposite. Remember that cortisol can impair memory and the immune system.
The inquiry continues with psychological analyses of experiment participants.
First group members felt more energetic, stronger, and risk-taking.
For the second group, the opposite occurred. Taking the posture changes the state of the person in less than two minutes.
Three productivity-boosting postures
These “power postures” boost self-confidence. Make note of this to improve your work or study efficiency.
Just what our brain sees. Your face and body reveal more than you realise.
Your posture and expression change when you're bored or driven. Thus, your mind can easily find daily events.
Dana Carney, a psychologist, says the body is the easiest way to instruct the brain to be more productive.
These "power postures" will boost your testosterone levels, which boosts confidence in our prospects of success.
Having a winning posture will help you win. Your brain will receive direct energy from your body, allowing it to offer effective commands.
This impact occurs when conversing on the phone, typing, or in a management meeting.
Three productivity-boosting positions are:
1- Place your hands behind your head (neck level) with your elbows out. This lets you straighten your back and open your chest. Ideas will spread better throughout your body.
Take this position when problem-solving. Try the same if you need to be inventive or find sales-boosting tactics.

2- Rest one arm outside your chair and set it on a table or other unexpected spot.
This will empower you since your body will take up too much space.
This position can be used when you get an important call, meet important clients, or sign a juicy contract.
3- Stretch or put your legs on your desk. Spending all day at your PC prevents lower limb movement. Your mind feels numb.
Science proves that stretching your legs boosts productivity.
So extend them multiple times a day, as when you answer an email.
