We should be distinct instead than striving to please others. Being oneself helps us accept ourselves by respecting and asserting our identity.
The amazing art of being yourself: 3 steps to practise
Being yourself takes guts. They are required because we live in a society that tries to generate similar people and where breaking the mould can mean being singled out.
Early in life, we follow others' choices. We all learned right from wrong as children.
Adolescents and teens conform to peers to be accepted and recognised. Not having a style and following trends implies rejection.
Sometimes we act like others instead of ourselves at challenging times.
However, it always arrives. This special time when we stop everything to ask ourselves, "Who am I really?"
We should take this phrase seriously rather than dismissing it.
individuals find that many things and individuals are not right for them when they learn who they are.
No balance, no harmony. Changes are needed now.
Consider the following three points.
- To be yourself implies recognising your identity
Being yourself is okay.
Being oneself is like holding a fragile, special being in your heart. He suffers when we disobey Him.
Clarification is needed. Chance or transient deeds do not build identity. Today, if you're unemployed, don't say, “I'm a failure”.
You deserve love even if you just broke up.
Being yourself does not mean accepting these blessings. To develop a global, positive viewpoint, we must nurture ourselves from our roots, experiences, and sentiments.
Most importantly, our genuine identity must be true to its beliefs.
Why do we break this self-agreement?
We prioritise others' happiness.
By terror. Fearing disappointment or not meeting expectations, we may not show ourselves fully.
Some break their pact with themselves because they dislike themselves. Not embracing oneself physically and emotionally is a hazardous cause of frustration.
- Labels from others are worthless.
Learn to be yourself.
The fault of our world and civilization is punishing, judging, labelling...
Labelling and judging help humans control others. “If I label this person clumsy or ridiculous, they will think so and I will have power over them.”
We may first be swayed by others' free judgements. However, you must take the plunge and recognise these words as noise, empty words in closed minds.
Others' opinions of you are their concern. They have their universe. Because being yourself in complete freedom is what makes you happy, this shouldn't bother you.
- Being yourself requires change.
Be yourself and change.
Identity stability does not mean inflexible roots. Because he who refuses to change will never grow and adapt to his environment.
Carl Rogers was a major 20th-century psychologist. His humanist theory provided this unique approach with key axes:
Finally, being who we want to be involves self-acceptance. Next, we create our identity with each victory and mistake.
Always happy and striving to improve daily. Start practising!
