What is the difference between a dogma and a belief?steemCreated with Sketch.

I may seem to be using a huge word to define your ideas, but I've encountered people who couldn't change their minds or actions. First, define belief and dogma.

Our minds contain beliefs of various degrees of certainty.

A political, intellectual, or religious authority may employ force to enforce a doctrine of fundamental, incontestable, and intangible truth. Thus, this statement is an opinion articulated with total conviction and presented as truth.

And you? How steadfast are your beliefs? Are you terrified of punishment for breaking your lessons? Beliefs are normal, but they must come from within and bring inner peace. Unfortunately, our family, church, school, and social background shaped most of our beliefs.

Consider a woman who thinks smoking and drinking alcohol are unhealthy. She abstains and controls herself well, but she has a smoker and drinker spouse. She continually feels emotions because she wants her husband to stop smoking and drinking, but he knows his wife's behaviour is driven by a belief she holds.

The fact that she feels emotions shows that her fear of getting sick controls her, yet she believes it is her decision.

How do we know we rule? A dogma is a belief that is so sure of its truth that it seeks to control everyone who disagrees with it.

The woman in my case doesn't realise that fear always comes true. Indeed, the subconscious only interprets our ideas' visuals and feelings. This woman associates SICK with alcohol and cigarettes whenever she talks, thinks, or reads about them. He imagines ill health in his subconscious.

I'm not criticising her. Every non-essential material we intake takes more labour to digest, integrate, and remove.

However, I have met some abused persons who had healthy, energetic lives. So I know that anyone who loves themselves and not external beliefs can achieve anything.

Doing something out of self-love involves accepting ourselves for deviating from our needs without condemning ourselves or feeling guilty. Not letting a belief become a dogma, which leads to self- and other-control, opens us to more choices.

Start a list of your beliefs. List new ones when you find them. Give each a 1–10 rating. The number should reflect how much control this notion has over you. To conduct this activity, assess your emotions when you or someone close to you rejects the belief.

This work is not meant to guilt you. Avoid making this list. You should want to know and accept yourself. Accepting oneself allows you to periodically deviate from your views and reduces your control. The energy you used to control yourself will be restored.

You will gradually KNOW instead of BELIEVE what is good for YOU exclusively. Different behaviour won't disturb you anymore. To get to know one other, you will realise that we all have distinct requirements and life experiences.

Do you want to dwell in the illusion of security afforded by your beliefs or progress by trying new things? Nothing can change in your life without your decision.

If you haven't, take the Being Well workshop. It will show you how to identify and change your beliefs.
