I'm all for giving everyone the same chances to do well. But we need to get rid of the things that stop people from reaching their full potential. It is important to realise that success often requires help from other people. We should all do our part to make the world good for growth.
As a writer, I often meet people who have trouble putting together sentences. I've also met people who want to write but have a hard time doing it.
This post will talk about why this is happening and suggest ways to fix it. Please let me tell you about some tools I've found that help people get along. I hope these tools help you.
This is not the same as training on diversity. The goal is to make a place where people can learn and share without worrying about being judged or left out.
What's the difference between variety and being a part of something?
There might be some differences between variety and inclusion. People from different places and with different experiences make variety. It's important to remember that people come from different places and have different experiences. You might meet people from other places or with different skin tones.
But inclusion values and respects people no matter how different they are.
Many people feel uncomfortable when others judge them or leave them out.
Like me, many people find it hard to take criticism and ideas for improvement. In this case, we might want to be careful about asking for help. Younger writers may worry about being judged.
This problem also comes up at work. Some people may be nervous about looking for work because they know their skills, schooling, and appearance may be judged.
What can writers do to build groups that welcome everyone?
Different backgrounds and points of view make groups stronger. Also, think about the need for different ways of communicating and characters. From what I've seen, these strategies have helped build communities:
People like and respect what you do. I like how focused you are on the job. I think we could do better, but I think you're doing fine.
I've learned that people love and value good comments and being told about their skills. I try to be happy even when people give me good advice. I focus on the good parts of the conversation and listen to both the good and the bad feedback.
It's best to start with rules.
Setting clear rules and expectations for how people communicate cuts down on misunderstandings and arbitrary judgements. When you know you'll be talking about politics, religion, or other touchy topics, it can help you avoid arguments.
Do you really believe that rules are the basis of a good community? Do you want everything in life to be regulated...? What about freedom, flexibility, tolerance, creativity and emotion - does everything submit to rules...?
