You're a perfectionist and square who likes everything to be well thought out. But even if you have everything in perfect condition, you will always be vulnerable to unforeseen events. You must develop the ability to deal with the unexpected, especially if you are the type to go bankrupt when a minor detail throws off what has been planned.
Everything was meticulously planned down to the last second. You memorize your script. Additionally, everything is exactly where it belongs. But even if things don't turn out the way you planned, you can use simple, effective strategies to deal with life's inevitable "surprises" and welcome the unexpected.
The unexpected can appear in a variety of ways, depending on the situation. An untimely meeting, a memory lapse, a technical error, an absent key participant, a misplaced decorative item, a last-minute event cancellation... The possibilities are endless. Many people quickly find themselves at their wit's end and on the verge of swooning when faced with such circumstances because they are unsure of how to respond.
They detest it when their plans are foiled! If some people only express their disappointment, it's more likely that others will approach hysteria. This is why being able to handle the unexpected is so crucial. When you accept the uncertainties of life, your chronic anxiety will go away.
Many people's daily routines are controlled by a schedule that is perfectly organized. They can maintain their comfort level and prevent any type of frustration brought on by the unknown by following a set routine. If even one part of this routine is disturbed, the entire day is altered. The unexpected can seem impossible to deal with.
The fear of surprises can also result from the fact that you have already experienced an unexpected event. The results of this situation were not particularly pleasant: you were unable to find a solution and had to live with the effects for a very long time. You felt so frustrated and even traumatized by this experience that you vowed to yourself "I'll never want to face the unpredictable again"!
You fear dealing with the unexpected because of a past unexpected event that did not turn out well; you worry that the same thing will occur again as a result. You are unable to concentrate on potential solutions at a crucial time because of this anxiety.
Parents often have a tendency to worry about their kids too much. They don't often leave them alone out of concern that they might trip and hurt themselves. They believe the sick child's statements when the doctor is present... All of these actions are the result of the parents' good intentions, but they also serve as one of the triggers for future anxiety when dealing with the unexpected.
