A run of two halves

in running •  6 years ago  (edited)

I watched most of the first half of the England - Columbia match, but then I decided it was time for an evening run as it had cooled a little. I set off up the footpath across the road that takes me to the footbridge over the railway. Year ago there was no bridge and you had to walk across the tracks. It's a very straight line so you could see and hear a train coming. Then it was through an area known as the Mill Pits. There's the remains of an old water mill in the river. From there it's onto farm tracks that run around fields of various crops. It's all very open as you can see below. The farm is in the distance.

As I took this picture my phone must have glitched as my podcast player and the Endomondo app both stopped. Hence I have two tracks for this run. After the farm it was more farm tracks that take me to the meadow where there were some horses, then along the river and back to the footbridge. Nothing too fast apart from some very short sprints. I was trying to lean forward a little more most of the time.

You can see that most of my records were set a few years ago. I wonder if I can ever beat those. I still want to beat 25 minutes for 5km. I'm not sure the 1km record is real as the app may have had a GPS glitch. I doubt I've ever run that fast.

When I got home England were 1-0 up, but then Columbia scored in injury time. I'm not watching the extra time. I'm not that bothered about the result. As I keep saying, 'It's only a game'.

After the main part of the match I went outside to talk to my other half who couldn't bear to watch. There was this great streak of cloud across the sky. It reminded me of the Nexus from Star Trek: Generations.

That look like such a great run

wow! that PB in 1Km is outstanding man!

Yeah, shame it's not real :) I can look at the stats for that run and it just stands out. I've excluded that run from the stats. There's another with a 4:04 km. That may just be possible

I know, I was just joking...I had as well to remove some BP's in the past since they were bugs of the gps acquisition.
Cheers

you didn't miss a thing in the match... I was almost like if the ref only put out yellow cards.. The atmosphere on the field was bad..

I honestly thought we were out after the equalizer, I was even more sure when it went to penalties, I am ecstatic for a change we won, form the ex-pat in PL.

The cloud does remind me of the Nexus :P
Maybe it's what deviated your course... travel back in time and ran it a second time, who knows... +D

Time well spent!!! While you were running (good for you) England had difficult part of the game. And now you won and broke the historical spell of not being lucky with penalty shootouts! Good for you! I know it is just a game, but it is still nice :)

England won on penalties, pigs do fly sometimes and I guessed the 90 minute result and won 1 STEEM courtesy of @abh12345 :)

I think you watched the better half if you saw the first. Going out for a run was probably a decent idea.

I saw a few dog walkers who obviously weren't too bothered about the match. The suspense continues...
