오랜만에 북클럽 글을 올리게 되네요 :)

이번에 진행된 북클럽 책은 바로 존 스튜어트 밀의 "자유론"입니다!

(2) 책의 간략한 내용

이 책의 서두에서 밀은 제목의 의미에 대해 설명합니다. 보통 우리가 생각하는 것은 개인의 철학적인 자유를 말하지만, 이 책에서의 자유는 그보다는 시민의 자유 또는 사회적 자유를 주제로 잡고 있습니다.

이 시대의 19세기의 시대에는 고대그리스로부터 이어져온 자유와 권력의 투쟁에 대한 문제는 어느 정도 해결되어, 자유란 것이 시민들이 자유의 압제자들로부터 보호받는 것이라는 의미를 정립해왔습니다.그러나 이 시대에 밀은 그보다 더 나아가 시민들이 최고 권력자가 행사할 수 있는 힘의 한계를 규정하는 것이 사회적 자유를 얻을 수 있는 방법이라고 말합니다.

최근 스팀잇에서 일어났던 일들, 그리고 현대의 민주주의와 자본주의의 문제들이 하나 둘 두드러져나오는 상황에서, 자유주의의 시초인 밀의 책을 읽어보면 어떤 해결책을 얻을 수 있지 않을까 하는 생각에 이 책을 추천하게 되었습니다.

아직 책을 읽지 않아 간단하게 쓸 수 밖에 없네요 ^^; 그래도 머릿말만 읽어봐도 이미 얼마나 좋은 책인지 알 수 있는 것 같습니다.

예전엔 규칙을 구구절절 적었는데 2가지만 정하겠습니다.

(2) 자유론을 읽은 감상을 쓴다(글의 길이는 상관없지만 어느 정도 성의는 있었으면 좋겠네요 ^^;)
